Show choir performs at Aurora

Rhapsody is going out of this world! Both Rhapsody and Impact have been hard at work to put together this year’s show. Their season kicked off Saturday at the Tiger Clash at Hastings High School. Rhapsody’s five-number show tells the story of a journey to space through song and dance. Their costumes are the finishing touch that makes the show feel extra alive. Impact’s all-girls production is focused on Wonder Woman. The music is inspiring and empowering for all girls. Wonder Woman is portrayed by Novella Stevens through singing and dancing. Impact will also be performing their first competition of the season at Tiger Clash.

As a tune-up for competition, the show choirs were able to have a clinic with the Big Red Singers from UNL. On Jan. 18, Rhapsody and Impact performed for the college show choir and were given helpful tips to better their performances. After the clinic they performed again for the community. The Big Red Singers also presented their show that evening.

Members of Rhapsody are excited about the extraterrestrial theme. When asked what her favorite song in the show is, senior Tainee Merrihew replied, “My favorite song is the ballad titled "Gravity" by Sara Barrelis”. Sophomore Lilian Ramaekers also stated, “My favorite song to perform in our show is definitely our second song, "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon/Intergalactic".” She said that this song is the group’ character piece where they get to speak and dance in silly ways to further progress their show's story. “I love busting out my hip-hop moves in Intergalactic”.

Rhapsody will perform for their home audience at the spring concert on March 5.
