The Aurora Huskies girls softball took the title of B7 sub district champs on the 21st against Blue River. The Huskies first faced their rival team, York, in a close game ending 5-4. The game following the bottom two seeds faced each other in a massive upset for both competing teams with Aurora coming out on top.

“It felt relieving, when we watched the first game, which was Blue River against Lakeview, and Blue River won. It was really when we knew we had a likely shot at winning the whole thing,” sophomore Adrianna Brei said Adrianna hit two home runs in the Lakeview game.

“I was able to be this successful because of my focus when stepping into that batter’s box, and the pressure of knowing what the team needs and what I need to do. I personally work well under pressure, which is something that not many people can do. It is very important to understand what the team needs you to do, and get it done.” said Brei.

“We need to keep the energy up and not get too stressed out about our opponent. We need to focus on ourselves and how we can improve individually in order to get better as a team, and only worry about one game at a time.” Junior Adi Fahrnbruch said.

“We were focused on improving our energy, and overall environment in the dugout and on the field. We wanted to make the environment fun so we could enjoy playing and make memories throughout the game,” Adi said the highlight of the night was seeing teammate Ashlyn Kottwitz hit a home run.

“This was her first home run of the season, so it was a super special moment for our whole team to celebrate with her.”
